Travel Preparations
- Entry:
- Inoculation:
- following enumerating knows a physician attendance (about 2 months before travel start) did not replace!
- Cholera and yellow fever inoculation are not at present prescribed
- Malaria prophylaxis can take place in Tanzania effectively only with the quite strong preparations "Malarone" or "Lariam"
- the following inoculation are in any case recommendable: Yellow fever, hepatitis A and B, Tetanus
- without Cholera inoculation one can do to precaution because of the quite small effectiveness, by "healthy caution" is there more effective
- Travel pharmacy:
- band-aid, shears, disinfectant, sterile packed one-way syringes, means against failure, fever, cold, pain, sun protective agents
- Vacation fund:
- should to be arranged in US dollar
Euros can be changed in exchange offices, but safari, some hotels etc. can only paid with dollars. - 50 % traveler´s cheque (50 and 100 dollar or euro notes) and cash in all notes from 1 to 100 dollars
- it pay attention that often large dollar notes cannot be changed (hotel bill, safari ...), the rate of exchange for 1 to 20 dollar notes however often more badly than for 50 and 100 dollar notes is
- a credit card gives to come the good feeling in an emergency in the large cities and luxury hotels at cash, even if they are not to be used otherwise in Tanzania
- Travel time:
- the small drying time of December until January and the large drying time of July until Septembers are the main travel times
- if a rainstorm every 2-3 days do not disturb (and somewhat lower prices lure) are also the time February/March to recommend, before the large uses rain time (until at the end of of May)
- Flight:
- around EUR 600 one must count (with something luck you will find also a flight for EUR 500)
